How It's Made

Each piece is lovingly handcrafted using traditional pottery techniques:

• Comes in two pieces — a deep plate that sits perfectly inside the vessel
• Hand-thrown on the potter's wheel with careful attention to form
• Every detail is hand-carved and hand-painted
• Porcelain slip applied to the wall for an authentic whitewashed finish, then worked over with various tools to give it a true lime-washed texture
• Calla lilies hand-painted climbing the wall beside the door
• The traditional double door is carved in relief, with the inner door left open, an impression given by the cut-out doorway itself
• Finished with a glaze that keeps that soft, chalky whitewash quality
• Durable and functional — fired at 1200°C (2192°F)

The Story in Every Detail

Every cottage garden had its flowers, planted close against the whitewashed wall where the sun lingered longest.

I built that whitewashed texture in porcelain slip, worked over by hand with various tools until the surface held the same soft, chalky quality as a real lime-washed wall, then let the lilies climb up beside the door.

Notice the red door, a traditional Irish half-door, painted in the old way. The inner door stands open, cut straight through the clay, a small threshold left ajar as if someone has just stepped out to tend the flowers.

This oil burner brings that same touch to a room the honest white of the cottage wall, softened by a few lilies someone chose to grow.
