A Note on Handmade Variations
The piece shown is one of the currently available lidded jars. Because each jar is hand-thrown and hand-carved individually, yours will be unique with its own subtle variations in glaze tone and carved detail that make it entirely one of a kind. Available to pack as a gift just add your message at checkout and I'll include a handwritten gift note.

Some things are made to be looked at twice. The double-walled jar asks that of you once for what's on the surface, once for what's behind it.

Hand-thrown on the potter's wheel and hand-carved in my studio in Oranmore, Co. Galway. The outer wall carries the cottage whitewashed in porcelain slip, with carved windows cut clean through to the inner wall behind. That depth isn't decorative illusion. It's there in the clay itself, the gap between the two walls catching shadow and shifting with the light.

Carved into the outer wall alongside the cottage: a potato basket and calla lilies. The basket is an old western image the harvest brought in, the year measured out in what was stored. The lilies grow beside it as they do across the west, unbothered by the stones, finding their place in the rough ground. Both are carved in relief and painted with underglaze before firing.

The red door sits where it always has. Along the western seaboard, that colour was chosen deliberately a threshold marker, painted to hold the boundary between the familiar and whatever came in from beyond it. Quiet tradition, fired into the clay.

The upper body and lid are glazed in dark metallic charcoal and bronze, the particular grey of thatch after rain. The interior is glossy green with warm brown speckles. The lid closes cleanly.

Every piece is individually carved. The cottage on your shelf will be its own.

Glaze Dark metallic charcoal and bronze on the upper body and lid decorative, never in contact with food. Interior glazed in glossy green with warm brown speckles, food safe and lead-free throughout.

How It's Made Thrown from a single ball of clay on the potter's wheel the clay is split at the base and pulled up into two separate walls, inner first, then outer, before being merged back into one at the rim. The outer wall is then hand-carved with cottage windows, potato basket, and calla lily detail. Porcelain slip applied for the whitewashed walls; carved elements painted with underglaze. High-fired at 1200°C in my Oranmore studio.

Care The interior green glaze is fully dishwasher safe. To protect the metallic finish on the exterior and lid, hand washing is recommended for long-term care.
