A Note on Handmade Variations
The piece shown is one of the currently available lidded jars. Because each jar is hand-thrown and hand-carved individually, yours will be unique with its own subtle variations in glaze tone and carved detail that make it entirely one of a kind. Available to pack as a gift just add your message at checkout and I'll include a handwritten gift note.

Not every object announces itself. Some simply find their place — on a kitchen shelf, beside a kettle, on a windowsill where the light falls just right. This is that kind of piece.

Hand-thrown and hand-carved in my studio in Oranmore, Co. Galway, the Irish Cottage Lidded Jar in medium sits at the heart of the Irish Cottage range — between the Sugar Bowl and the larger Lidded Jar, and equally at home beside either. The same whitewashed walls wrap the rounded body, built up in porcelain slip to catch the texture of lime-washed stone. The same carved windows. The same red door, facing out as it always has.

That red door carries old meaning. Along the western seaboard, cottages were painted red in the tradition of the threshold guardian — a colour chosen to hold the boundary between the known world and whatever wandered beyond it. Practical faith, quietly kept. It lives on here, fired into the clay alongside the windows and the rough-cast walls.

The upper body and lid are glazed in a dark metallic charcoal and bronze — the colour of a thatched roof gone silver in the rain. Inside, a glossy green with warm brown speckles, the colour of the fields beyond the half-door. The lid closes clean.

What you keep in it is your own business. The jar will hold it well.

Every piece is individually hand-carved. The cottage on your shelf will be its own.

Glaze Dark metallic glaze on the upper body and lid — decorative, never in contact with food. Interior glazed in glossy green with warm brown speckles, food safe and lead-free throughout.
