Carry a piece of Connemara home with you in this handcrafted stoneware trinket dish, made in my studio in Oranmore, County Galway.
This piece grew out of years of walking the Connemara landscape the bare mountain ridges where rock breaks through thin soil, the dark bogland stretching to the horizon, the small waterholes sitting quietly at the top of the world, and the occasional lonely cottage holding its ground against the Atlantic sky. Everything you see in the carved texture and glaze has its roots in direct observation, not reference images. This is Connemara as I know it, on foot.
The raised sculptural surface captures the layered geology of the landscape rock emerging from bog, water pooling in hollows, heather clinging to exposed stone. The glaze palette draws from what the eye actually finds in Connemara: the deep green of wet grass, the warm gold of dried rushes, copper tones of dying heather, and flashes of Atlantic blue where light catches still water.
Dimensions & Function A generous trinket dish, the perfect resting place for a ring, a pair of earrings, or the small daily jewellery you reach for every morning. Beautiful on a dressing table, bedside table, or bathroom shelf.
How It's Made Hand-thrown on the potter's wheel, then individually sculpted and finished in my Oranmore studio. Each dish is built up by hand with layers of clay and texture before glazing — the result is entirely unique, shaped by the material as much as by me. High-fired at 1200°C for strength and durability.
